What to Expect
If this is your first experience with counseling, it’s normal to be anxious about disclosing highly personal information to a stranger. Meeting online may add another layer to the anxiety. So as we begin, my goal will be to create a welcoming, comfortable space. It should feel like you’re talking to someone who is deeply interested in your personal story and who wants to earn your trust.
During the first session, we will take time to get acquainted as I gather information to understand more about what brings you to therapy. We’ll collaborate on a treatment plan to fit your specific needs and goals. Prior to each session, you will receive a password-protected, secure link to log in. A typical session lasts about 55 minutes.
There really is no “norm” for how long therapy should take. Because it is a process, it will depend upon your own unique situation and your goals, so we will continue to talk about them as we go along. If at any time you have questions about therapy or your treatment goals I will always be happy to stop and answer them.
